History of Dini’s

Dini’s a true Hollywood story of discovery. Dini’s Los Angeles was established in 2003 by Dean Fortunato, an actor wanting to explore the possibilities of design on footwear…and pay his rent.

He began with the perfect Southern California footwear – a flip flop, and embellished it with a simple crystal flower at the center of the thong.

They were introduced at a trendy Hollywood swap meet and although the concept of Jeweled Flip-Flops were entirely new they sold out fast. The following week he cajoled friends to help embellish more jewels on more flip-flops in his apartment kitchen and went out to the swap meet again. His first customer happened to be one of the biggest accessory reps in L.A. She called him in a few days later for a meeting.

She wanted to “rep his line” whatever that meant!. That weekend instead of participating in the swap meet, he was schmoozing with the buyers from Henri Bendel, Kitson and Fred Segal. When they tallied up the receipts they had sold over 1500 pair and Dini’s Los Angeles was born.

Now 19 years later Dini’s Jeweled Flip-Flops are sold in stores, high end boutiques and resorts around the world. Offering hundreds of unique design embellishments a pair of “Dini’s” has now become a beloved wardrobe staple for women all over the world – so welcome to the world of Dini’s!
